Zizzers Blank Rolla 3-0, Keep October Momentum Rolling
The Zizzers are rolling.
West Plains went on the road Monday night and shut out Rolla 3-0, giving the Zizzers their third straight win and continuing a stretch that is quickly becoming one of the strongest parts of their season.
Hudson Cox scored twice for West Plains, while Cordale Palmer added another goal. Gerson Anariba and Cameron Miller each recorded assists.
At the other end, goalkeeper Hunter Lange and the Zizzer defense kept Rolla off the board all night.
Head coach Jimmy Miller called it the team’s best defensive performance of the season.
“This was our best defensive performance of the season, and a very good team win for continued momentum,” Miller said in his postgame report.
That momentum is real.
West Plains has now put together three straight road wins over Springfield Central, Bolivar and Rolla — three quality opponents and three more reasons to believe this team is finding its stride at the right time.
Monday night’s win also carried some history with it.
According to Miller, MSHSAA head-to-head records go back to 2007, and Monday’s victory was West Plains’ first varsity win at Rolla in at least the last 20 seasons.
The Zizzers also beat Rolla 3-1 at home last season, giving West Plains back-to-back wins in the series.
But Monday night felt different.
Three goals.
A road shutout.
A clean sheet from Lange and the defense.
And a third straight win as the calendar moves deeper into October.
This team is building confidence, stacking quality wins and giving Zizzer fans plenty to be excited about.
The postseason is getting closer.
And the Zizzers are playing some of their best soccer at exactly the right time.
