The West Plains Zizzers turned in a strong performance at the MSHSAA Class 4 Sectional 3 meet in Waynesville, with the Zizzer boys finishing second as a team and the girls placing fifth.
More importantly, West Plains qualified athletes or relay teams for the Class 4 State Championships in 14 events. Sectional championships came from Cameron Miller in the 100 meters, Jared Kraft in the high jump, the boys 4×100 relay and Mylea Adams in the long jump. Boys Punch Eight Tickets to State
Sophomore Cameron Miller won the Sectional championship in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.58.
Miller also qualified for State in the 200 meters, finishing 3rd in 22.00. The official results confirm both performances.

Senior Jared Kraft won the high jump with a clearance of 2.08 meters — 6 feet, 9¾ inches — earning another Sectional championship and a trip to State.

Senior Jaxon Hunter advanced in both throwing events, finishing 2nd in the discus at 44.71 meters and 2nd in the shot put at 16.91 meters.

Junior Hunter Stanley secured the fourth and final State-qualifying position in the 3200 meters, running 10:06.00.

Adams Leads Zizzer Girls to State
Senior Mylea Adams qualified for State in all four of her events.
Adams won the Sectional championship in the long jump with a mark of 5.72 meters. She also finished 2nd in the 100 meters at 12.42, 2nd in the 200 at 25.60, and 4th in the triple jump at 11.02 meters.

Freshman Kaebrynn Gunter earned a State berth in the 1600 meters with a 3rd-place finish in 5:13.05.

West Plains left Waynesville with a long list of qualifiers and four Sectional championship performances.
The Zizzer boys advanced in eight events, while the girls moved on in six, giving West Plains representation at State across the sprints, distance events, relays, jumps and throws.
Cameron Miller, Jared Kraft, the boys 4×100 relay and Mylea Adams all left Sectionals as champions, while several other Zizzers secured top-four finishes to extend their seasons one more week.
