The Zizzers did something historic at their home opener vs Glendale – prevented the Falcons from scoring a single touchdown! Zizzers dominated with a final score of 21-7. Falcons scored first with a field goal. Then the Zizzers prevented them from another scoring drive for the rest of the game. The other 4 points Glendale earned were from 2-point safety plays. That’s a pretty impressive feat for any team in the Ozark Conference because, historically, Glendale is a high-octane passing offense that always manages to score. True to form, Glendale would often opt to go for it on 4th down – a gamble play that pays out for the Falcons passing offense. But, the Zizzer defense did their job of constantly making adjustments. Note that most of the defensive players were on offense and getting exhausted by the end of the game. Glendale was poised to take advantage of the Zizzers’ exhaustion near the end of the game when they got deep into the red zone, but the Zizzer defense held them from scoring – just as they had done earlier in the game. Zizzers found the momentum they needed and a second wind (or third wind or fourth wind) to keep Glendale from scoring.
