The Zizzers started strong at home against the Rogersville Wildcats in round two of districts with a touchdown pass from Kenslow to Hafer, followed by the extra point from Larsen. This was within the first 54 seconds of the game. It was a sign of things to come.
Zizzer defense forced a 4 and out giving our offense little time to rest! The next TD came from Kenslow to Lair who ran it in for the TD, followed by the Larsen extra point – with 7 minutes left in the first quarter. 14-0. Next, Cook intercepts and drives all the way to the 1 yard line to put our offense back on the field again with little rest! A penalty moved it back to the 35. Kenslow finds McCracken, then Lair, then Leazer for the TD followed by a Larsen extra point. 4:40 left in the first quarter. 21-0.
2nd qtr: Zizzer offense repeats with a Kenslow to Leazer TD and Larsen extra point taking up just 10 seconds of play. 28-0. Zizzers Lopez, Davis and Cook make tackles for stops forcing Rogersville to punt. Kenslow finds Miller deep who runs it in for the TD followed by a Larsen extra point. 35-0 with 9:31 left in the half. Defense: Casey, Hudson, Clark and Bryant hand the ball back to offense again. Lair, McGinley and Kenslow to McCracken for another TD and Larsen extra point! 42-0 with 4:52 remaining. The next series of downs ends with a field goal from Larsen. 45-0.
3rd qtr: Hudson and Lair make stops and Cook gets another interception! Cox, Simpson and McGinley move the ball forward but the Wildcats take over on downs. Foster and Cook make stops and Zizzers recover a fumble! McGinley, Simpson, Sellers and Cox move the ball down to the 1 yard line! End of 3rd qtr.
4th qtr: Simpson runs it in for the TD! Larsen kicks the extra point. 52-0 after 5 seconds of play. Cook intercepts for the third time! Zizzers run several plays to run the turbo clock down. Cox, Jones, Sitzes, Cross all move the ball downfield. Wildcats finally have the ball, but its too little too late as the clock runs out.
Zizzers advance to the District Championship game next week at home!
