Zizzers Crush Glendale 42-18 at Home

We just weren’t sure where ‘home field’ was going to be for this game. Thankfully, the Zizzers got to play on their own turf at McDonald’s Stadium after flood damage ruined it earlier this year. And what a great way to “christen” the new field with a big win over Glendale (whose QB was last years Gatorade Player of the Year after throwing 76 touchdowns!)

Last year Glendale’s QB was able to find all sorts of open players to throw to, but this year was a different story. The Zizzer defense stepped up and put the pressure on Glendale’s Alex Huston all night long, sacking him and forcing bad passes –  and they kept his passing lanes controlled, allowing only 3 scores. Ian Ary snagged an interception in the 3rd quarter.

Bryson Collins sacked Huston on a big drive, halting the Falcons’ progress. There were a handful of Falcon drives into the red zone, but twice the Zizzers stopped Glendale on 4th downs with just yards to go.  That’s the way we love to see our Zizzer defense play!

On offense, the Zizzers led with sophomore Brayden Lidgard scoring FOUR touchdowns! Sophomore QB Rackley threw to seniors Hackworth and Mahan to setup Lidgard’s first TD. Cressman kicked the ball well all night long! Lidgard scored again in the 2nd quarter. Rackley threw to senior wide receiver Randolph for a picture perfect touchdown.

After the halftime, Rackley scored a TD as the Falcons were looking for Lidgard. And the Falcons were right to look for Lidgard because he scored two more touchdowns before coach put him on the bench to rest.

At the end of the night, Zizzers had improved their season record to 3-0 against a Glendale team that they wanted to get a little payback for a loss at Glendale. Next week – we face Hillcrest in Springfield. Let’s Go Zizzers!
