West Plains claims both conference championships, with two individual champions and nine All-Conference runners.
It was a clean sweep for the Zizzers!
Both West Plains varsity cross country teams captured Ozark Mountain Conference championships Friday, October 16, at Marshfield, bringing home two team titles and plenty of individual honors.
The Lady Zizzers won the girls championship with 34 points, while the Zizzer boys claimed their title with just 21 points.
And there was even more to celebrate.
Nine West Plains runners earned All-Conference honors, including individual conference champions Kaebrynn Gunter and Hunter Stanley.
Lady Zizzers Race to Conference Championship
Kaebrynn Gunter led the Lady Zizzers across the finish line, claiming the individual OMC championship with a winning 5K time of 18:50.05.
But she had plenty of company near the front.
Lena Finke finished third in 19:53.03, followed by Libby Hart in fifth at 20:15.35 and Abigail Mongillo in sixth at 20:21.30.
That gave West Plains four of the top six individual finishers!
Jane Cobb completed the Lady Zizzers’ scoring five with a 19th-place finish in 22:41.46.

Zizzer Boys Take Five of the Top Nine Spots
The Zizzer boys turned in an equally impressive performance, placing five runners among the top nine finishers.
Hunter Stanley led the way with a conference championship time of 16:17.40.
Right behind him was teammate Blake Romans, who finished second in 16:21.21 — just 3.81 seconds later.
Joseph Roberson and Chaska Shearin added fourth- and fifth-place finishes, crossing the line just four-hundredths of a second apart!
Dylan Wade rounded out the Zizzers’ scoring five with a ninth-place finish, giving West Plains five All-Conference runners.
Knox Weisbrod and Bryon Davis also represented West Plains with top-20 finishes.
