District Watch: Football — Zizzers Hold Third With Two Games Remaining

The Zizzers have two regular-season games left and a close district race still ahead of them.

West Plains is 5–2 after Friday’s 36–30 loss at Logan-Rogersville. The Zizzers currently sit third in Class 5 District 5 with 38.36 points, trailing second-place Camdenton by 2.23.

That puts the focus on Friday’s trip to Parkview and the regular-season finale against Marshfield.

7Jefferson City2–524.95

These are the current MSHSAA standings, with final district seeding still to come.

Camdenton is the team immediately ahead of West Plains. The Lakers finish their regular season at home against Capital City on October 16 and at Rolla on October 23. Those results will be worth watching alongside the Zizzers’ final two games.

Two Opportunities to Finish Strong

West Plains plays at Parkview on Friday, October 16, then hosts Marshfield on Friday, October 23. Both varsity games are scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Zizzers remain close to Camdenton in points, but winning does not guarantee a particular seed. The final standings will depend on the remaining results and district-point calculations.

For West Plains, the immediate opportunity is straightforward: respond at Parkview, then return home with a chance to finish the regular season strong in front of the Zizzer faithful.
