Zizzers Rally From Two Goals Down to Beat Springfield Central 3–2
The West Plains varsity soccer team erased a two-goal halftime deficit Monday night, scoring three unanswered goals to beat Springfield Central 3–2 at Harrison Stadium at Drury University. Central entered the match 9–2.
Just 30 seconds into the second half, Avenier Kulakevich scored off an assist from Caleb Cobb to cut Central’s lead to 2–1. About 25 minutes later, Hudson Cox was tripped from behind while heading toward goal. Cox converted the resulting penalty kick to tie the match.
With only 23 seconds remaining, Cox worked his way through the Bulldog defense and scored the winner.
Goalkeeper Hunter Lange and the West Plains defense held Central scoreless throughout the second half. The comeback came just two days after the Zizzers battled back from a 3–1 halftime deficit against Capital City but fell 3–2.
