The West Plains Zizzers closed out the 2026 track and field season with a strong showing at the MSHSAA Class 4 State Championships in Jefferson City, highlighted by two individual State Championships, a sixth-place boys team finish and a long list of State medal performances.
Sophomore Cameron Miller captured the Class 4 State Championship in the 100-meter dash, while senior Jared Kraft won the State Championship in the high jump. Miller also finished State runner-up in the 200 meters, and senior Jaxon Hunter earned two top-five finishes in the throwing events. On the girls side, senior Mylea Adams earned a State medal in all four events she competed in, while freshman Kaebrynn Gunter added a sixth-place finish in the 1600 meters. Two Zizzer State Champions
Cameron Miller — State Champion, 100 Meters
Miller capped an outstanding sophomore season by winning the Class 4 100-meter State Championship in 10.51 seconds.
The championship also carried some major Zizzer history with it. According to Ozarks Sports Zone, Miller’s victory gave West Plains its first individual sprint State title of any kind since 1931.

Miller wasn’t finished.
He returned in the 200-meter dash and ran 21.88 seconds to finish second in the State, giving him a championship and a runner-up finish in his two individual sprint events.

Senior Jared Kraft finished his Zizzer career on top of the podium.
Kraft cleared 2.09 meters — 6 feet, 10¼ inches — to win the Class 4 State Championship in the high jump.

Zizzer Boys Finish 6th in Class 4
West Plains finished sixth in the State in Class 4, with Miller, Kraft and Jaxon Hunter accounting for the Zizzers’ scoring performances.
Poplar Bluff won the Class 4 team championship with 67 points.
Jaxon Hunter Earns Two State Medals
Senior Jaxon Hunter delivered two top-five performances in the throwing events.
Hunter placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 50.59 meters — 166 feet.
He also finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 17.40 meters — 57 feet, 1 inch.

Mylea Adams Medals in All Four Events
Senior Mylea Adams finished her final State Track & Field Championship by earning a medal in every event she entered.
Adams competed in two sprints and two jumps and finished among the top seven in Class 4 in all four.
She placed fifth in the 100-meter dash in 12.21, seventh in the 200 in 25.44, fifth in the long jump at 5.36 meters — 17 feet, 7 inches, and fifth in the triple jump at 11.03 meters — 36 feet, 2¼ inches.

Gunter Takes 6th in the 1600
Freshman Kaebrynn Gunter also reached the State podium, running 5:06.60 to finish sixth in the Class 4 1600 meters.

A Championship Finish to the Season
West Plains left Jefferson City with plenty to celebrate.
The Zizzer boys finished sixth in the State, led by two individual State champions and two additional medal performances from Jaxon Hunter. Cameron Miller brought home gold in the 100 meters and silver in the 200, while Jared Kraft closed his senior season as the Class 4 high jump champion.
The Zizzer girls finished 16th, with Mylea Adams completing an impressive four-for-four State medal performance and freshman Kaebrynn Gunter earning a sixth-place medal in the 1600.
And for Miller, the weekend added another chapter to Zizzer history — West Plains’ first individual sprint State title since 1931, according to Ozarks Sports Zone.
