Zizzers Advance To Districts Round Two, Defeating Cape Central 61-0
The Zizzers were the first seed in the Class 4 District 1 playoff bracket, which means they faced the bottom seed, Cape Central in round one of district play. The undefeated Zizzers forced a shut out even with second string and JV players taking over in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Final score: 61-0.
We’ve never played in this district before and no one knows what to expect facing off against any of these teams. But the Zizzers made it clear early in the game that this was going to be a lop-sided score after they stopped Cape Central’s first drive and then scored before 3 minutes had passed on the game clock. And then they did it again using up only 1:30 on the game clock. Then they scored one more time with 1:14 left in the first quarter, 20-0.
In the 2nd quarter the Zizzers scored 28 unanswered points for a halftime score of 48-0, leading to a turbo clock scenario in the 3rd quarter. NOTE: Zizzers have triggered a turbo clock in ALL TEN of their games this year.
I’m sure the Cape Central team felt frustrated, which may be the reason why one of their players was ejected from the game for unsportsmanlike conduct.

FIRST QUARTER

Zizzers kickoff, to the 25. Tigers take over. Tigers pass, complete first down, Parker#34 tackles on the 37. Defense pressured the QB, incomplete pass. Zizzers knock the ball loose, Washington recovers the ball!

Tigers start from the 30 this time. Ary#44 and Taylor#36 take down. Robins#69 and Addison#58 tackle. Addison tackles the QB keeper, first down. Washington sacks the QB! 2nd and 25. Short pass, complete. 3rd and 25. Long pass, incomplete. Lucas#14 receives and gets to the 46.
Lidgard gets the first down on the 37. Rackley to Warren complete for 4. Lidgard to the 12, first down. Rackley is caught behind the line scrambling for a receiver. Lidgard to the 17. SECOND QUARTER
Dalton Lucas#14 returns the punt to the end zone! But Zizzer penalty takes it back to the 38. Rackley to Warren , first down on the 25. Lidgard for the TD. Cressman’s kick is good. #Zizzers lead Cape Central 27-0.
Tigers start on the 35 this time. Zizzer penalty, roughing the passer, takes it to the 50. First down. Incomplete pass. Incomplete again. Robins sacks the QB! 4th and 15. Tigers punt to Lucas who zig zags it to the 10!
Rackley to Cobb#45 to the 5. Marcak carries but is stopped behind the line. Rackley to Marcak in the end zone! Cressman’s kick is good. #Zizzers lead Cape Central 34-0, 7:36 in the 2nd quarter.
Tigers start from the 15 this time. Ary#22 and Seley#29 tackle. Collins#13 sacks the QB! Long hail Mary, incomplete. 4th and 13. Tigers punt to the 48. #Zizzers take over.

Marcak drives it all the way in but holding penalty takes it back 10. Rackley to Warren all the way to the end zone… No, wait – 6 inches away says the official. Rackley to Warren again for the TD, just to prove a point. Cressman’s kick misses the mark. #Zizzers lead Cape Central 54-0, 6:02 in the 3rd quarter.
Tigers start on the 37 this time. QB keeper, tackles but Ary#44 behind the line. Ary#44 deflects the pass! Seley tackles the QB keeper. 4th and 10. Lair#40 sacks the QB way behind the line from the Blindside! #Zizzers JV offense takes over. Hickson#15 k eeps and gets the first down! Henry#25 gets a first down on the 9! Cox#28 is 3 inches away from the TD! Anderson#83 runs it in, penalty! Kenslow#4 gets it in the end zone (his first varsity score)! FOURTH QUARTER
