It seems like the Willow Springs Steve Waggoner Cross Country Invitational grows bigger each year – and that is exciting news for Cross Country fans! More and more schools are bringing more runners and they’re driving from quite a ways out across the region – as far as the Branson area on the west side and Ellington out east.
For the Varsity Boys, the top runner crossed the line at 16:58 (Daylan Quinn from Liberty HS in Class 2). Our Zizzer Varsity boys took the top 5 spots in Class 4, easily earning first place as a team. But, what’s even cooler than that is that we also took the 6th spot, 8th and 14th positions as well – which means we’ve got some good backup runners that might normally run for JV, but at this event they ran against area Varsity runners – and held their ground!

For the Varsity girls, it was a similar story. Ava’s Bailey Ray (Class 2) took the very top time with 20:21. The Zizzer’s own Theresa Harto took the top time in Class 4 with 20:29. And the Lady Zizzer’s effortlessly claimed the top 8 positions in Class 4 and an easy first place team finish. Wow! Plus they had one more runner, freshman Kaylee Hatley, finishing at position 11. It was an endless barrage of red and white coming across the finish line!
