2017 Track & Field Sectionals

Zizzer Boys and Girls Competed at 2017 Track & Field Sectionals in Eldon, MO. [Note: check our photo album out here.] Several Zizzers qualified to compete at State, including first-time competitor, graduating senior, Elle Williams who earned First Place in the high jump (and her fellow senior basketball classmate, Lily Harris who earned Second Place)! Wow! That’s quite a way to end your senior year girls! And on the other end of the grade spectrum, we have freshman Mia Harris (Lily Harris’ cousin) who placed 4th in the 3200 meter run, earning a spot at the State Championship. #GoZizzers!

But those aren’t the only Zizzers going to State! What about Ben Stasney earning First Place in the 3200 meter run, near the end of the day, after earning 2nd place in the 800m earlier in the day?! That was an amazing race, where Ben ran with the other top runner from Webb City (Ryan Riddle), but kept back just a bit… until the final 200 meters of the final lap – where he just sprinted out to the lead and left the Webb City senior eating his dust. Ben would have qualified for state with a 4th place finish, but his competitive spirit showed up and he just couldn’t let that Webb City CardinalĀ beat him when he knew he still had more left in him. #ZizzerStrong!

How about Kasey Bonham throwing shot put for a 2nd place finish and securing a spot at State (again)!? Congrats Kasey!

What about Jacob McCrackin for a strong 4th place finish in the 1600m run – running with some of the fastest runners in the state in this particular race?!Ā The top 4 finishers were at least 20 seconds ahead of the rest of the runners. Ā These were some very fast boys – and Jacob was right there in the mix with them.

The Zizzer boys 4x800m team qualified for State with a 3rd place finish of 8:10.93. Congrats to Caleb Boys, Dylan Hayes, Ethan Hutchinson, and Wesley Laughary (another freshman going to State!).

Best wishes to our Zizzers competing at State next week!
