Zizzer Cross Country Sweeps Ozark Conference

The Zizzer Cross Country teams swept the Ozark Conference meet – again! Let’s face it – Coach Joe Bill Dixon and Alicia Gunter and staff have got it pretty well figured out. With 12 boys Ozark Conference Championships, and 11 girls Ozark Conference Championships, it’s a fairly safe bet to expect the Zizzers to win it!

As usual, the Kickapoo Chiefs showed up ready to fight. And in the boys race, it was a close one! But in the girls race – our Lady Zizzers dominated with a capital D.

Kickapoo’s Nathan Hall (ranked #8 in the State in Class 4) finished first – 30 seconds ahead of our first Zizzer, senior Joshua Ingalls (currently ranked #27 in the State in Class 4). But then, came the real battle as two more Kickapoo Chiefs crossed the finish line. Then the Zizzers showed up with two runners, sophomores Jacob McCrackin and Ben Stasney (both had parents who were Zizzer Cross Country runners). Next came a Glendale runner, and then Zizzer Ethan Hutchinson, then a Parkview runner and then our 5th runner, senior Garritt Hicks – closing the deal and earning the Conference Championship (thanks Garritt!).

For the girls, it was a different story. The Lazy Zizzers flat out ruled the roost, and only allowed one non-Zizzer runner to break up their (almost) perfectly packed up squad.  With a total score of 18, they just barely missed a ‘perfect’ score of 15 points.
